Kia’s pert and perky Picanto has been given a mid-life update. There’s been a work-over to the exterior, some nice changes inside, and a new engine package. The Picanto line-up has as of June 2020 has four models, with the entry level S, GT-Line, X-Line, and GT.
GT-Line and GT will have newly designed 16 inch alloy wheels, and both have received a heavily restyled frontal treatment. The signature “tiger nose” grille will have new surrounds including a restyled air intake in the lower section of the bumper. The rear matches that with a redesigned bumper and twin exhaust tips. The redesign brings a broader and more aggressive look.
The S model isn’t left out. New halogen powered headlights in a Multi-faceted Reflector design will be standard, whilst the the GT pair will have Projection Halogen Headlights. That restyled front end will have fog lamps that also have had restyled surrounds. The GT will pack a new generation 1.0L turbo engine with 74kW and 172Nm. A five speed manual transmission will be available.
Inside, Kia have given the Picanto a segment first. The touchscreen goes up to a 8.0 inch diameter, the largest available in the micro-car segment, and the driver’s display is a 4.2 inch colour unit. There will also be a wireless charge pad and Bluetooth multi-connection, with both of these a first as well.
